Kitchen Designers are an essential piece to the puzzle in making your kitchen dreams come true. They have a way of taking your wish list and vision, making it a reality. We interviewed designer, Teresa Spagnolo with Nova Decor Construction, as she takes us through some of her design processes to reveal this beautiful KitchenCraft kitchen!
Featured Cabinets: Plymouth Maple Charcoal
When it comes to designing, what is your favorite part?
What I loved about designing this kitchen is that it was completely driven around the customers tastes and needs. The floating shelves are one of our favorites and although there are minimal upper cabinets, the functionality of the base cabinets offer the customer all the organization and space they need for their large family.
Could you tell us more about why and how the dark wood stain was chosen in this design?
The kitchen is part of a larger open concept design that leads into a living room, home office and family room. All the walls were painted with Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace so it was the perfect canvas for the Charcoal cabinets! The beautiful stain on maple doors complimented the warm flooring perfectly and the water fall island prevented it from feeling too bulky.
The idea of a separate beverage refrigerator is very popular right now. What influenced you to incorporate it in their kitchen island? Did you drive that or did the homeowner request?
With the dining area right beside the island it made sense to make a “beverage” station on that entire side of the island. Beside the beverage fridge is the pull-out wine cabinet which is convenient for entertaining!
What are your plans for the space above the microwave?
The space above the stove was actually not finished when this photo was taken but is now the home to a Miele Built-in Coffee Machine. It’s just one thing I love about KitchenCraft… lending customers the time to make decisions about their appliances.
We want to thank Teresa for her insights around the realization of this stunning design. We are thrilled to see a dark wood stain in this kitchen. Even when white or light paints are dominating, there are trends that are absolutely worth noting beyond the predominate ones. As kitchen designers, we love showing consumers ideas that give them confidence to make decisions to go with colors and palettes that appeal to them and their spaces at a personal level.
